RectEuler over Time: Stable Rectangular Euler Diagrams for Dynamic Sets
Jump to Discussion
Abstract
Many real-world set systems evolve over time, with elements and sets appearing, disappearing, or changing their relations. While Euler diagrams intuitively represent set intersections and inclusions, independently drawing each time step can produce unstable layouts that hinder comparison. We extend RectEuler to time-dependent set data by adapting its objective with stability terms. This produces rectangular Euler diagrams that better preserve the viewer’s mental map while still showing structural changes over time.
