Please read the following instructions carefully for guidelines on preparing your Presentation for VIS 2026, or a VIS 2026 workshop.
Hybrid Presentation Options
IEEE VIS 2026 will be held primarily in person in Boston, with satellite events in Paris, France and Tianjin, China. Presenters who are unable to attend one of these locations may participate through a prerecorded presentation.
Presentation options depend on the type of contribution:
- VIS Full/Short Papers: Presenters will either present live in Boston, live from the Paris or Tianjin satellite event, or through a prerecorded presentation. Authors selected their planned presentation location during the camera-ready submission process. Presentation sessions will be recorded.
- TVCG/CG&A Presentations: Presentations will be live and in person in Boston and will be recorded.
- All Other Events: Please contact the organizers of your event for available presentation and participation options.
Selected sessions in Boston will be streamed live to the Paris and Tianjin satellite events. In particular, sessions scheduled in the America Hall may include live participation from satellite attendees and presenters.
Changing Presentation Location
The conference program and hybrid infrastructure are now being coordinated across Boston, Paris, and Tianjin. Because of session scheduling and time-zone constraints, we can no longer accommodate changes between live presentation locations.
If you previously selected Boston, you cannot switch to presenting live from Paris or Tianjin. Likewise, presenters assigned to Paris or Tianjin cannot switch to another live presentation location.
If you can no longer present at your planned location, you must notify the Program Chairs at program@ieeevis.org. Your presentation may instead be delivered as a prerecorded presentation.
Presenter registration
Every VIS Full Paper, VIS Short Paper, invited TVCG paper, and invited CG&A paper must be covered by a qualifying full-conference registration, regardless of where or how the presentation is delivered:
- Boston: The paper must be covered by a Full Conference registration.
- Paris or Tianjin: The paper must be covered by a Satellite Author registration.
- Prerecorded: The paper must still be covered by an appropriate Full Conference or Satellite Author registration, even if the presenter does not attend in person.
The registration covering the paper does not need to belong to the person giving the presentation. Co-authors should coordinate to determine who will cover each paper. A student Full Conference or Satellite Author registration may cover one paper, while a non-student registration may cover up to two papers.
These paper-coverage requirements do not apply to papers presented at workshops, symposia, tutorials, panels, challenges, or other conference proceedings, nor to poster presenters, invited speakers, or other presenters and organizers.

Presentation Recommendations and Powerpoint Template
We recommend using the provided 16x9 wide format (VIS 2026 PowerPoint Template).
In addition, make sure that your presentation is accessible by speaking clearly, using large fonts, and ensuring high contrast. Avoid saying “as you can see on this slide” and always describe all relevant visuals. You can find some recommendations for giving accessible talks from SIGACCESS and if you have additional questions contact the accessibility chairs.
The VIS 2022 conference organizers put together some tips on making a compelling and informative talk, which still apply. We hope that this guidance is helpful for your presentation:
Presentation Length
As a guide, the length requirements for are as follows:
- VIS Full Papers and TVCG/CG&A Presentations: The maximum length of your slot is 12 minutes, including questions. We recommend a 9 minute talk with 2 to 3 minutes for questions. At least 1 minute must be left for questions.
- VIS Short Papers Presentations: The maximum length of your slot is 9 minutes, including questions. We recommend a 7 minute talk with 2 minutes for questions. At least 1 minute must be left for questions
- Workshops and Tutorials: Please consult your associated event organizers for information on presentation timing.
